To hear Danika's story was amazing. Ive read this book a few times before posting just because each time i read it i find something new i missed or forgotten about. I wont share the story any here because the book is written to be a story within a story and worth the read.
The only reason it didn't get a 4 Star rating was that it is too short. It could've had some more meat to it. All we got were some bones to a book. Left out all the juicy bits too! Still…good back story teaser for later. Worth a read now, unless this all will be recaptured in a following book. In which case, then I'll be irritated by the use of space with a re-run.
Ms. Hall, as always, spins a t a le that grips the imagination. I welcome my visits to Kingdom... and hate when they end. Though barely an appetizer, the pictures she painted with this short story were brilliantly colored. Thank you, as always, for giving us all another glimpse into Kingdom. I am off to seek book 6!
While it's part of the series, it was pretty obvious that it was meant as a filler piece or an aside between main character works. It wasn't as fleshed out or as engulfing as the author's others in the series. But then I got the impression that it wasn't really meant to be anything major to the series. Somewhat canon but not essential to the others.
This and so many of this authors books are wonderful I love the twist she's given to the old fairy tales its absolutely amazing and I keep wanting more
This started out really good and pretty much exactly what I guessed this short would be about after I read Hook's story but then it took a left turn and I'm not sure how I feel anymore. I would Hate for her to turn out evil but truth be told, I like rooting for the redemption of the bad ones. After all, isn't that WHY I love the first 5 books in the Kingdom Series.
Up until this point we are seeing Danika's "Bad Boys" find their mates and get a happy life but what happens after? Well children is what comes after marriage. So we read about our first beloved "Bad Boy", the Mad Hatter and his Alice. What I love is this bad boy has a daughter. We get a snippet of Chrysa's story before a full novel of her story (book 6). I enjoy reading the continuing novelettes that this author produces. This method keeps the story alive when so much time passes between novels. To use Alice's baking analogy, reading Danika's Surprise is like eating a cupcake before eating a big meal, which is reading the next book.
